Dr. Gangi offers both individual and group treatment for grief, anticipated loss, and separations associated with divorce or relationship break-up.
Individual sessions are typically once-weekly, 45-minute meetings and may cease after a one-session consultation or go on for on for several months or more depending on the needs of the client.
Groups meet for an hour to an hour and 15 minutes and typically consist of 5 to 7 members. Groups run by Dr. Gangi are not, "drop-in" groups that allow members to attend infrequently or at their convenience. Rather, the format of the groups requests weekly attendance in an effort to create familiarity and trust among the members who get to know one another over a three-month period. Potential members may opt-out early on but, once a member decides the group may be useful to him or her, regular attendance (with reasonable exceptions) is expected - as members come to depend on one another to receive the full benefit of the group experience. At the end of 3 months, members decide whether they would like to continue or finish their participation in the group.
Time can be required to collect sufficient members for a group to proceed. The following groups are currently forming:
General Adult Bereavement
Seniors Bereavement Group
Most group and individual sessions are scheduled in the evenings though some afternoon and morning sessions may be available.
